Decor provides magnitudes more Happiness than Trees and Buildings will.
One Grocery Store takes up two squares, and costs 4700 Coins to produce 73 Happiness
Two Plum Trees take up two squares, and cost 960 Coins to produce 60 Happiness
One Picnic Table takes up two squares, and costs 586 Coins to produce 183 Happiness
Decor produces less Happiness relative to its cost at higher levels
However, Decor takes up valuable space, which can only be expanded with Axes
As you require more Happiness, sell cheaper (or larger) decor items to upgrade
You can always produce more coins, but Axes are rare and not worth expending for the sole purpose of making room to increase Happiness
Purchase and KEEP the decor in boldface (in the quantity noted) to satisfy various quests, while increasing your Happiness so that you may build more houses
Premium Decor is not featured on this matrix since it costs Gold, not Coins
